Creativity can change lives. I’ve experienced this myself when working as a carnival artist in Notting Hill, London and Port of Spain, Trinidad, as an author at Rough Guides, as a Caribbean culture journalist, or when writing scripts, fiction or memoir. I’ve seen it in others when I ran Creative Future, an arts based charity promoting under represented artists and writers.
After gaining an MA in Creative Writing from the UEA, I supported others’ creativity, facilitating the Brighton Big Issue Writing group, then, as the Writer in Residence for three years at the First Base Day Centre, Brighton - a place of safety for people who were vulnerable and/or homeless. I've taught in a wide variety of educational settings. I’ve worked as a professional mentor with Lapidus, supporting others to use writing as a therapeutic tool. In 2007 I co-founded Creative Future, to promote artists and writers who are often overlooked.
